Notes from client: Our Charleston team completed a monumental project earlier this year—restoring a histroic trolley barn to serve as the main campus for the American College of the Building Arts (ACBA). Their hard work was rewarded with an Excellence in Construction award from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Carolina Chapter. Vacant for 30 years before renovations, the job included selective demolition, historic preservation, and a complete build-out of the structure. The facility is now complete and includes workshops, classrooms, and administrative space. ACBA is the only school in the country offering four-year degrees in classic building techniques including masonry, carpentry, stone carving, timber framing, and iron work.
